It was a drizzly afternoon in South Carolina. I was sitting at my aunt's house, where I had been on my annual visit.
We had spent time in Charleston, one of my favorite cities in the US. I loved the classic architecture of the city. We had taken a trolley tour around the city, which meant that we could sightsee without getting lost, an issue for both of us.
I went through the photos that I had taken that day. I loved photography, always had since my mother gave me an old film camera when I was a kid. Thankfully, we don't use film anymore given the thousands of photographs that I've taken on my travels.
Some of the photos needed to be edited since we were on a moving vehicle. As I started playing around, I realized that I could manipulate these photos into works of art. Before long, I had gone from a blurry photo taken out a bus window to a vintage photograph of a historic building. The more I started playing around, the more creations I developed.
I wondered how I could potentially share my art with the world. I started researching and found out about print on demand companies, companies that would take my designs and put them on their products.
Thus, I created a new business: Miss Missy Designs. The idea would be to bring these photos from my adventures into the living space of homes all over the world.
I had never been an artist. I cannot draw to save my life. Yet, with the power of a camera lens and a computer, I have become an artist like I could never have possibly dreamed. It is my hope that others will enjoy my art in their home and that it will inspire them to visit some of these incredible locations.
